Pediatric Dentistry Treatments

Your child’s primary (baby) teeth play a crucial role as placeholders and guides for their developing adult teeth. Ensuring the health and proper development of these teeth is vital for their future smile and self-esteem. By preserving primary teeth for as long as possible, your child can experience fewer orthodontic complications and speech issues. Prioritizing their dental care now sets the foundation for a lifetime of healthy teeth and confident smiles.

Some of the pediatric dentistry services we offer include:

  • Exams: Routine evaluations monitor your child’s oral development and allow us to identify concerns early on, making them easier to address. We recommend exams at least twice a year, starting at age 1.

  • Orthodontic Evaluations: We assess your child’s oral development, jaw anatomy, and eruption patterns to identify potential issues that may arise as they grow.

  • Dental Cleanings: Preventive cleanings every six months keep your child’s smile fresh and healthy. Our hygienists also educate your child on proper dental care between visits.

  • Fluoride Treatment: A professional fluoride treatment after your child’s cleaning helps remineralize weak enamel, enhancing resistance to decay and sensitivity.

  • Protective Sealants: Dental sealants are preventative coverings that block cavity-causing bacteria in the grooves of back teeth. We recommend applying sealants on all permanent molars as they erupt around ages 6 and 12.

  • Dental Fillings: Primary teeth can decay quickly, so our conservative white fillings repair damaged areas and prevent infection from spreading. Composite fillings are both mercury-free and aesthetically pleasing.

  • Crowns: Protective crowns (or “caps”) preserve compromised, broken, or decayed teeth, preventing premature loss. We offer stainless steel and tooth-colored zirconia crowns for our pediatric patients.

  • Pulpotomies: An abscessed tooth can be painful and pose health risks. Gentle pulpotomies, combined with crowns, can save your child’s tooth until it is ready to be replaced by a permanent one.

  • Extractions and Space Maintainers: Non-restorable teeth can be gently extracted, and a space maintainer can be placed to prevent crowding or blockage of the underlying adult tooth.

  • Early Intervention and Growth Modification: Specialized orthodontic techniques promote healthy oral development, reducing the risk of complex dental needs later on.
